Indio Melendez is a Nuyorican Actor, Writer, Poet, Educational Theater Specialist  and Visual Artist. He was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and raised in Washington Heights.

He is a Desert Storm Veteran and a graduate of Lehman College, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelors in Social Work and minor in Theater.

Banjee,  Wings Theater, It Goes Unsaid, Institute of Contemporary Art, UK,.  Los Nutcrackers, BAAD.  Indio won the First Annual 2005 NYC ONE FESTIVAL for his play MANCHILD DILEMMA.

He was also nominated for a 2001 Latin ACE Award “Supporting Actor” for his portrayal of “Miguel” in “Vieques”, He is enjoying a healthy run of Dona Flor Y Sus Dos Maridos, currently playing at Repertorio Espanol which alongside the cast won the 2008 HOLA award “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Cast”.
